The Archive has rich resources on archaeology and anthropology and contains very important documents from the late Ottoman Empire Period and the early Republican Era of Turkey. Besides many documents in Ottoman Turkish, it houses approximately 200,000 rare books and about 1800 manuscripts in different languages. There is also a rich photography collection put at the disposal of the researchers.

Application and Search Procedures:
It is not possible to conduct an online catalogue search in all topics on the website of the archive located in Ankara except for some certain topics. Any national and international researcher, official and private institution, may benefit from the THS Archive. Application should be in written form with the following details:
• Photocopy of the identification card (ID) or the passport (for foreign researchers),
• Address,
• Research Subject (Master or Ph.D. Candidates are required to present a letter from their academic institutions).
The letter of research application can be sent by mail or presented directly to the THS.
Also the application can be made to Turkish diplomatic missions abroad. These missions send the applications through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to THS. Researchers from official and non-governmental organizations should present an official letter indicating the research subject provided from their institutions.
